Community Action – Atlanta Gay Leather Bar Raid

On Thursday, September 10, 2009, the Atlanta Eagle, a gay leather bar, was outrageously targeted by the Atlanta Police Department in a raid. You can read one account of it here and it’s been widely reported in other media.

The gay and kinky communities can’t let this police harassment go unanswered. Rallies are being held in Atlanta, but it’s also important that the Atlanta authorities hear from everyone nationally and worldwide that this sort of harassment is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Please call the Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin’s office and register your complaint about the raid on the Eagle bar and demand that her office take action against such police harassment. Mayor Shirley Franklin’s office can be reached at 404-330-6100.

If you have a Facebook, Twitter or other social media account, use it to let people know about the raid and encourage them to let the authorities know of their outrage. Email your friends. If you have media contacts, encourage them to cover this story. We can’t let this happen again.
