Resources

Here are some useful resources. Over time I’ll be adding to this list and categorizing the resources in a more useful way. Although not a judgment of their content at all, I try to stay away from sites that are primarily for erotica or adult entertainment when listing resources on this site. The internet is chock full of such sites and I’m glad they’re there. But I try to present sites here that primarily contain content that informs or provides discourse for men and women interested in nontraditional sexuality and relationships. Some of these sites may contain adult images, but their focus is providing good information. I also list retailers who provide quality items of interest.

Dear puppy… – My friend David Shorey has a new advice blog for the leather, kink and BDSM communities. David is a nice, smart guy and I’m sure this blog will be useful to many.

Electronic Journal of Human Sexuality – Publication of the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality (San Francisco, CA). The mission of the Journal is to disseminate knowledge about all aspects of human sexuality to the widest possible international community at moderate cost. While the focus of the Journal is on the academic study of sexuality, even non-academic readers will find many of the Journal articles interesting and informative.

KinkyRopes.com – If you want to purchase rope well suited to rope bondage play, this is a site offering a wide variety.

LeatherClubs.net — An amazingly well done site with lots of great resource links presented in a useful graphical interface. The information is without a doubt gay male centric, but men and women of all orientations are likely to find some useful resources here.

Leather Leadership Conference, Inc. — Annual conference that invites men and women from all walks of the scene to become part of the effort to share the diverse and extensive body of information gathered from the many authors, educators, academics, activists and members of our community. In the conferences and other forums they create opportunities for groups and individuals to network and share their experiences. Past topics have included: forums for community issues, handling public relations for a group, building membership, resolving conflicts, activism, and practical information on forming and maintaining a group.

Mr. S Leather – One of the most respected retailers of leather and kinky gear in the world. This business is owned by a long-time friend of mine who manages it with the utmost integrity. Highly recommended. (Adult images on the site.)

OpeningUp.net – Tristan Taormino’s site for people interested in open relationships of all kinds including monogamy with benefits, nonmonogamy, partnered nonmonogamy, swigning, polyamory, polyfidelity, solo polyamory, mixed orientation marriages, and other relationships styles beyond monogamy.

Power Play Academy – Founded in 2006 to establish a viable and legitimate e-learning institution for power exchange play, the BDSM arts, and related forms of alternative sexuality. It serves both the active BDSM community and private “bedroom players” of all experience levels who want to safely incorporate some form of kinky play into their erotic repertoires but find it impractical to attend live educational events.

PuckerUp.com – Tristan Taormino’s site with a mission is to educate people of all genders and sexual orientations in their pursuit of healthy, empowering, and transformative sex and relationships.

RopeFashions.com – An excellent website dedicated to the art and sexuality of rope bondage. There are great tutorials on a wide range of rope bondage techniques.

San Francisco Sex Information — Free, confidential, accurate, non-judgmental information about sex. Questions answered by phone or email. Their Resources page has a lot of links to useful sites. While this great service is based out of San Francisco, anyone can utilize their well-trained staff of sex information volunteers.

Sexuality.org – This site offers a wealth of information and resources on many sexuality topics.

The Leather Journal — A newspaper-style publication now moved online as well that provides news, information, calendar and directory for men and women of the leather community. I particularly like the calendar since it gathers information about all of the leather happenings around the world in one location.

The Leather-Links Information Network – This site was designed as a way for the leather community to find easy access to up-to-date local and international leather information and services.
